If you’re looking for a kid-friendly resort near Austin that offers the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and family fun, Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa is a fantastic choice! Located just 30 minutes from Austin, this beautiful resort is packed with activities for all ages while still offering a peaceful retreat in nature.
We spent two nights here during spring break with our 4-year-old and 3-month-old, and it quickly became one of our favorite family-friendly destinations. Here’s everything you need to know before booking your trip!
Our Favorite Activities at Lost Pines Resort
1. Swimming & Lazy River 💦
The resort features an outdoor pool with a lazy river and a heated kiddie pool—perfect for little ones who love the water but need a gentler experience. The lazy river was a hit with families, and we loved that the water was warm enough for our youngest to dip in!
2. Free Bike Rentals 🚲
One of the BEST parts of this resort! They offer complimentary bikes in all sizes, including bikes with baby seats, so the whole family can ride together. The resort grounds are huge, and biking around was a great way to explore. Tip: If you’re planning to bike in the morning, go early! Bikes tend to run out quickly, but availability improves in the afternoon.
3. Hammock Time 🌿
Sometimes, the best vacation moments are the simplest! The resort has hammocks tucked away in a quiet area, perfect for relaxing with a nice breeze and some downtime.
4. Animal Meet & Greet 🐐
The resort has a small petting zoo featuring llamas, goats, pigs, and even longhorns! The friendly staff made the experience even better, and it was a great way for kids to interact with animals up close.
5. Playground & Bounce House 🛝
Not the biggest play area, but just the right size to burn off some energy before nap time! It was a nice addition to the resort, especially for younger kids who might not be ready for some of the bigger activities.
6. Nightly S’mores 🍫🔥
Every evening, the resort hosts a s’mores night, and it was one of our favorite ways to wind down the day. It’s included in your stay, and the setup made it easy for kids to safely roast their marshmallows.
7. Games for All Ages 🎲
Beyond the big activities, the resort also has:
- Ping pong & foosball tables
- Cornhole
- Art & Crafts
- A family movie night under the stars
All of these little extras made the resort even more fun and engaging!
Extra Activities (With an Additional Fee)
While many activities were included, we did notice that some required an extra fee, which was a little disappointing since we had already spent a good amount booking the resort. Here are some of the paid activities:
💰 Fishing: $40 per hour just to rent the pole! It was booked out anyway, so we didn’t get to try it.
💰 Pony Rides: 15 minutes for $45. This was also fully booked online, but we were able to walk in. Tip: If it’s booked, call them directly for availability!
💰 UTV Tours, Golf, Spa, Shotgun Shooting, Tomahawk & Archery—all available at an additional cost.
Overall Thoughts & Tips
Would We Go Back? Absolutely!
